The online world of social media platforms has changed a lot in the past ten years . With these platforms and applications, we can now communicate faster, have more choices of how we communicate with others, and the nature of communication has changed along with its speed and volume (Wong 2016). Modern age has allowed for technology innovation to ultimately affect how people communicate with others and how organizations communicate with their audiences. Most have embraced these changes and taken advantage of the numerous opportunities to communicate, however there are still those that are limited by them not understanding how to use these platforms effectively. > References Wong, W. Communicators now have a number of tools and platforms to gather information at their fingertips because of technological advancements and online digital innovation. Social media is a vital tool for distributing news and information, but with the increasing number of new platforms and apps, there are new opportunities for news gathering (Reid 2014).  Technology has made applications like Tweetdeck and Hootsuite possible, which allow for the ability to collect sources on a specific topics, hashtags, or trending stories.
