Technology has created a plethora of devices that allow us to connect online through social media platforms and online communications.   That ability to be connected all the time has influenced newer generations and the culture that they are creating of human interaction and what it is now with technological advancements.   Comedian Aziz Ansari covered this topic in a recent standup special on Netflix. Audiences as consumers are driving this trend of the need to be connected at all time, and its causing business to do a complete rewrite of how they follow that trend. Visual social media trends are on the rise as every device now has a camera option, and platforms are moving away from traditional communication and optimizing visual communication. Everyone with a social media account and a smart phone can now become a journalist thanks to technology and online innovation which allows for anyone to go live on multiple social media platforms. Social media has also become the go to source for where people are getting their news. According to a survey done by the Pew Research Center, 67% of U.S. adults reported getting news from social media (Shearer & Gottfried 2017). With trends of new platforms becoming capable of news based information, there are even more ways to for all kinds of journalists to get the news and information out to the public.
