How Gathering Information for Communicators has Evolved
Communicators now have a number of tools and platforms to
gather information at their fingertips because of technological advancements
and online digital innovation. Social media is a vital tool for distributing
news and information, but with the increasing number of new platforms and apps,
there are new opportunities for news gathering (Reid 2014). Technology has made
applications like Tweetdeck and Hootsuite possible, which allow for the
ability to collect sources on a specific topics, hashtags, or trending stories.
Communicators are utilizing and monitoring social media networks, as it has
also become the first place for breaking news stories.
